Following the successful introduction last year in Japan, Australia, France, Belgium, Argentina and Mexico, Geelen Counterflow of Haelen, the Netherlands, has recently sold its newest MkII counterflow dryer to a company in the USA. The Idaho based aquafeeds producer Rangen Inc. has purchased a 6 deck counterflow dryer VD24x24TB*6 for the drying of extruded fish feed with diameters between 0.8 and 30 mm.
According to Rangen's plant manager Joy Kinyon: "At first we were skeptical about the new technology that seemed to be involved. However, speaking to experienced users of Geelen's first generation of counterflow dryers it was quickly clear that they are very happy with the energy efficiency and sanitary properties of their counterflow dryers. They also confirmed that they have no problems with product damage or with the drying of fish feed with diameters below 1.0 mm. Then when we were worried about the height of the vertical dryers, Geelen sent over an engineer to discuss installation options and to draw in the new generation dryer which is much more compact than its predecessor. During a reference visit to a premium pet food producer in Belgium we found another satisfied user. Throughout the selection process Geelen Counterblow's engineers showed their superior expertise in the area's of drying and cooling."
The dryer will be exhibited on the Victam International trade show in Utrecht, May 11-13, 2004 (www.victam.com) before being shipped to the USA for installation and commissioning in Rangen's existing fish feed facility in Buhl, Idaho.
