Royal DSM appointed Carlos Saviani as global sustainability lead for animal nutrition and health. Carlos Saviani will play a key role in the further development and rollout of the company’s animal nutrition purpose-led sustainability strategy. He will focus on engagement with customers and associated stakeholders in the global animal protein value chain.
Carlos Saviani has over 26 years of professional experience in different aspects of the global livestock value chain, from managing a beef ranch to holding roles in organizations such as Genus ABS, Zoetis/Pfizer AH and Merial/Sanofi. He has also sat on the boards of the Global Roundtable for Sustainable Beef, DSM’s sustainability partner, the International Egg Foundation, and as vice president of the World Wild Fund’s (WWF) Food Sustainability team.
Based on expertise in human and animal nutrition, as well as environmental science, DSM enables sustainability in proteins from plant-based proteins to meat, dairy, eggs and fish. This includes a focus on key challenges such as reducing greenhouse gas emissions and limiting nitrogen and phosphorous residues, while keeping the highest nutritional standards and ensuring good liveli-hoods.
