Full Circle Biotechnology has announced the closing of funding for a new facility, capable of producing 7,000 tons per year of “ultra-low carbon” feed and feed ingredients. This facility will provide animal farmers with sustainable protein that reduces the carbon footprint of their produce, enabling the equivalent of over 13 million sustainable meals, the company said in a press release.
Full Circle combines solid-state fermentation with black soldier fly production, generating higher protein yields, less waste-water and requiring less energy, and developed an animal feed using both insect and microbial protein.
This announcement comes as Full Circle has been the first Thai company to be considered in the top 18 climate-tech startups worldwide by THRIVE, the world’s biggest climate and agri competition. In the Food Tech category, Full Circle was announced as a Top 3 company.
The company hosted a media and investor workshop at one of their customers’ farms: Shrimpday in Nakhon Pathom Province, Thailand. Felix Collins, CEO & Founder, shared the company’s business vision and showcased its breakthrough alternative insect-based protein animal feed made from black soldier fly larvae. Collins emphasized: “It is a game-changing innovation for the aquaculture industry because it is the first sustainable protein that is actually affordable for the farming sector.”
Also, Collins said: “Full Circle Biotechnology was founded on the belief that the sustainable future of food can only be unlocked if it’s affordable enough to save people money. I will be in Silicon Valley for THRIVE in October, but the future of food isn’t in California; it’s not in Europe. The Future of Food is happening now, in Thailand. We are proud to represent Thailand on the global stage and remain committed to advancing sustainable alternative proteins that not only strengthen global food security but also create stable livelihoods for farmers.”
In addition, Nuttanon Boonra, Co-founder and Head of Operations, stated: “This milestone not only highlights our innovation potential but also proves that Thai businesses can thrive on the global stage. We will continue investing in research and technology to deliver feed formulations that meet the highest standards of quality, competitiveness, and sustainability elevating Thailand’s feed industry while creating shared value for all stakeholders.”
