Mr. Fegan brings to Alltech over 20 years of management, research and development experience in aquaculture. He also has extensive work in commercial shrimp production both in Asia and Latin America. He is a well-known consultant on white spot virus prevention and health management and he advises in many aspects of general shrimp farming and husbandry.
His participation in the aquaculture industry extends through his membership of several key aquaculture organizations such as; the Global Aquaculture Alliance, Asian Fisheries Society and the World Aquaculture Society. He has also worked with regional, national and international organizations including the Thai National Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (BIOTEC), the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) of the United Nations and the Network of Aquaculture Centers in Asia Pacific (NACA).
Mr. Fegan obtained a Bachelor in Science in Marine Biology from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, Scotland in 1980. He carried out four years of postgraduate research studies in the same university before moving to work in Ecuador from 1984 to 1986. Mr. Fegan lived in the Philippines for two years before moving to Thailand in 1988 where he was involved in many aspects of commercial aquaculture, including farm and hatchery management, applied research and technical support for farming operations.
