Natac, a biotech company specializing in the sustainable production of botanical extracts and omega-3 oils, has obtained its first two certifications for its omega-3 plant in As Somozas, Spain, which began operations in mid-September 2024.
The plant processes fish-derived omega-3 oils and develops innovative ingredients for the food, nutraceutical, and animal nutrition sectors. Located on a 28,000 m² plot in As Somozas industrial park and backed by an investment of EUR 18 million, the facility has a production capacity of up to 10,000 tons per year of premium-quality omega-3 oils.
The company has achieved GMP+ and Halal certifications, reflecting Natac’s ongoing commitment to the highest standards of quality, food safety, and respect for diverse cultural and religious traditions in its production processes.
The GMP+ certification confirms that the plant adheres to rigorous international quality and safety standards in manufacturing. This certification is particularly significant for the feed and animal food industry, ensuring that the plant’s production and management processes meet not only local regulations but also exceed international expectations.
The Halal certification ensures that the omega-3 oils produced at the facility comply with Islamic law, enabling Natac to expand its presence in Muslim consumer markets both domestically and internationally.
Antonio Delgado, CEO of Natac, stated that “with these first two certifications, we are meeting our customers’ needs and positioning ourselves as leaders in the sector by being at the forefront of responsible production. These certifications allow us to continue growing and offering products that meet the highest standards of quality and safety.”
