The kits, which are marketed under the SYBR Shrimp label, were developed with a grant from the U. S. Department of Agriculture and validated through independent laboratory testing. Kit configurations, which support both traditional PCR and quantitative PCR employing molecular dyes and dual-label probes, are targeted at the early detection of the five most devastating viral pathogens affecting the $7 billion shrimp industry (WSSV, IHHNV, TSV, YHV and GAV) and are appropriate for use in both large and small laboratories.
