Arbiom, an agricultural-biotechnology company developing bioprocessing technology to convert wood in to food, announced last month it has successfully produced tonnage quantities of its high-protein ingredient - SylPro® enhanced torula yeast.
Arbiom technology combines woody biomass fractionation and bioprocessing (fermentation and downstream processing) expertise to produce SylPro from wood residues and waste. Sylpro is an enhanced strain of torula yeast (Candida utilis).
Arbiom said it has been developed to solve challenges of protein sourcing and improve gut health for aquaculture and livestock producers. Several animal feed trials including salmon and tilapia are going to be launched to validate its nutritional quality as a protein source.
