Cargill recently opened a new Provimi premix plant in South Vietnam with increased capacity and modern capabilities. This new plant will improve access to world-class additives and specialty ingredients for Vietnamese livestock and aquaculture farmers, as well as the nation’s feed mills.
The facility was inaugurated in September 2023 in Giang Dien commune, Trang Bom district in the southern province of Dong Nai. The USD 28 million Giang Dien plant represents a quantum leap forward from the Provimi Bien Hoa plant with vastly improved technology and superior infrastructure, representing the best of Cargill premix facilities in Asia. Spanning 30,000 square meters, the Giang Dien factory is more than nine times the size of its 27-year-old predecessor, and its 40,000-ton annual capacity represents a 100% increase over the plant it supersedes.
The significantly larger production and warehousing capacity of the new plant will add to Vietnam’s premix capabilities and self-sufficiency, besides enhancing the precision and traceability of these specialty micro-nutrient products. Equipped with state-of-the-art technology, the new plant has an automation rate of over 95% and this industry’s best technology brings an assurance of quality control for partners and customers.
“Cargill’s new Provimi Giang Dien facility will produce animal nutrition products ranging from low inclusion premixes to high inclusion basemix which contains high inclusion nutrition technology - and other additives and specialty ingredients under the brand Provimi to serve multiple customer segments including farmers of livestock, aquaculture and feed mills all over Vietnam,” said Duc Thang Pham, managing director, Cargill Animal Nutrition Thailand & Vietnam.
The new Provimi facility is prepared to meet the growing demand from both domestic and export markets. “Vietnam continues to be an important market for Cargill globally. Cargill’s commitment to environmental responsibility echoes throughout the new facility. Capabilities like advanced water treatment, smart lighting and natural lighting optimization systems ensure energy efficiency and minimize the plant's carbon footprint. The use of eco-bags throughout the plant will reduce polyethylene (PE) use compared to other methods, in alignment with Cargill's plastic waste reduction initiatives.
