The Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China announced anti-dumping investigations concerning the import of the essential amino acid and feed additive methionine from Japan, Malaysia and Singapore. The period under consideration for possible dumping is for the 2018 calendar year. In addition, it will analyze whether domestic industry suffered losses in the calendar years from 2016-2018 in this context. The investigation is said to be completed by April 10, 2020.

Evonik supports the investigations by the Chinese authorities and will provide competent bodies with all the necessary information and data. The company will cooperate fully with the ongoing investigation, while being confident of its outcome.

Evonik is one of the main producers of the essential amino acid DL-methionine, which the company markets under the brand name MetAMINO®. The company manufactures MetAMINO® at four locations in Antwerp (Belgium), Mobile (Alabama, USA), Singapore and Wesseling (Germany). The largest plant is located in Antwerp. Relying on this production network, Evonik supplies customers in more than 120 countries, ensuring a structurally reliable supply of methionine on a global basis, regardless of geographic location.

The essential amino acid methionine needs to be ingested with the feed. As a feed additive, it contributes to efficient, healthy and more sustainable nutrition of farm animals.
