Le Gouessant acquired French aquafeed production company Aqualia. With this acquisition, the group is strengthening its positioning and its production capacities in France, its R&D activities and its proximity to French farmers.

Aqualia, previously owned by Maïsadour and SCAAL, has around 20 employees and an aquafeed manufacturing plant in Saint-Aaron, in the Côtes-d'Armor, which is considered the most modern fish feed mill in Europe. Its latest-generation technologies will allow Le Gouessant Aquaculture to differentiate from its competitors and benefit its customers.

With its two fish feed plants, Le Gouessant increased its production capacity to 50,000 tons per year, becoming the largest French producer of fish feeds. This acquisition will enable the cooperative group to expand in a growing aquaculture market. Le Gouessant Aquaculture already has quality certifications (red label, Organic EU, AB, etc.) and with this acquisition, will be able to consolidate its R&D business unit by increasing its market presence.

“We are delighted that Maïsadour and Les Aquaculteurs Landais have chosen us to ensure the continuity and activity of Aqualia. We will continue to develop together with them within the spirit of a cooperative partnership that has always been the priority in our relationships,” said Rémi Cristoforetti, CEO of Le Gouessant Group.
