Salmofood expands the capacity of its plant in Castro, Chiloé, Chile, by adding a fourth line of production with an investment of $12 million. 100,000 tons have been added to the existing ones reaching a total of 250,000 tons per year of balanced food to cover the demand, both national and international. The company said to local news that the new plant is fully automated and meets high quality, harmlessness and technology standards required to produce extruded feed for the aquaculture industry. In addition, the company recently expanded its feed storage facilities with a capacity of more than 10,000 square meters.

The new Line 4 of Salmonfood can process any type of food and has the capacity to extrude 20 tons per hour. "In addition to producing more tons, this new line allows us better supply and higher flexibility to develop our food strategies," said Salmofood's commercial manager, Ernesto Passalacqua.

The new line is expected to meet the demands of the industry. "This is one of the most advanced technology plants in the region and it allows us to be more efficient and deliver a balanced food of optimal quality to help the growing of the industry," said Passalacqua. He also said that this new facility allows Salmofood to maintain the growth it has had during last years.
