As part of its business strategy and to maintain leadership in the agile development of sustainable, high-performance diets, Vitapro Chile, through its brand Salmofood, has announced a strategic restructuring of its Feed Technology division.

Paulo Alarcón Bruce has been appointed as feed technology manager, succeeding Sergio Castillo Alvarado, who will take on new responsibilities within the corporation in Ecuador’s shrimp industry. With over two decades of experience in aquaculture and animal nutrition, Paulo Alarcón ensures a seamless transition and brings a fresh perspective to an already robust and strategically positioned department.

“The appointment of Paulo strengthens our ability to innovate and deliver high-value, efficient solutions for aquaculture. His expertise in supply chain management offers a critical perspective for ensuring efficient and sustainable formulations aligned with market demands. Under his leadership, we will continue to advance transformative projects that reinforce our position as leaders in the sector,” said Ramiro Larios, country manager of Vitapro Chile.

Paulo Alarcón holds a degree in aquaculture engineering from the Catholic University of Temuco, a postgraduate certificate in business management from the University of La Frontera, and a diploma in logistics and supply chain management from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. His professional journey includes key roles at Salmofood and other national aquaculture companies, along with international experience at renowned institutions such as Canada’s Marine Biosciences Institute and Norway’s Akvaforsk (now Nofima).

From his early days at Salmofood, Paulo demonstrated deep technical knowledge and a passion for innovation, leading him to excel in roles within technical assistance, nutrition, and R&D. His return to Salmofood in 2016 and subsequent performance as supply chain manager have cemented his reputation as a leader dedicated to advancing the industry.

Sergio Castillo, the outgoing feed technology manager for Vitapro Chile, will assume new challenges in Ecuador as feed technology manager for the shrimp industry. Meanwhile, Pablo Leyton, Vitapro’s global feed technology director, will also relocate to Ecuador, where he will continue to lead the division globally, overseeing both salmon and shrimp operations across the company’s geographic markets.

“The experience and dedication of Sergio and Pablo are invaluable assets for Vitapro. Their contributions in Chile and their upcoming roles in Ecuador will further enhance our capacity for innovation and adaptability to global market demands. We deeply appreciate their commitment and professionalism and wish them great success in this new phase,” added Larios. “We continue to work tirelessly to ensure the highest standards of quality in our products and solutions, honoring the trust of our customers and contributing to a more sustainable global aquaculture industry.”
