IFFO elects first lady president; Barlow to step down

At its Annual Conference last week, IFFO elected Solveig Samuelsdottir of SR-Mjol h.f., Iceland to take over as President from 1 January 2004.  The outgoing President, Sr. Ivan Orlic Maracic of Corporacion Fish Protein S.A., Peru was elected Honourable First President to mark his achievements in successfully merging the International Fishmeal & Oil Manufacturers Association (IFOMA), St. Albans, England and Fishmeal Exporters Organistion (FEO) in Paris, France and two offices in Lima into the new organisation International Fishmeal & Fish Oil Organisation (IFFO) in St. Albans.  The Paris office will close at the end of this year.  The merged office in Peru, Lima, will continue.

Dr. Stuart Barlow is to step down as Director General of IFFO later next year.  He will retire at the end of 2004 to allow him to spend more time with his family, and to pursue other professional interests.  Meanwhile, a new Chief Executive Officer is to be appointed.
