The Myanmar Fish Federation and Livestock Breeding Federation will hold a joint seminar on fish and prawn feed at Lotte Hotel in Yangon on August 25th. The seminar is being held to address the increasing price of feed, according to Dr. Thet Hmu, chair of the Myanmar Fish and Prawn Feed Manufacturers Association. "One of the main problems for the fisheries sector is rising prices of fish feed. There were 5 government-owned fish and prawn feed factories. All of them were shut down and one has been sold away. If things go on like this, the private sector will face difficulty"

The 2018 Aquaponics Association Conference will be held in Hartford, CT at the Hilton Hartford Hotel from September 21 through September 23, 2018. The three-day conference will feature the top aquaponics experts from around the world, tours of commercial aquaponics operations, a vendor showroom, interactive discussions, and social events.

The organizers of AQUACULTURE 2019 are calling for oral and poster presentations for the conference in New Orleans. The deadline to submit abstracts is August 31, 2018.

The 2018 U.S. Soy Global Trade Exchange and Midwest Specialty Grains Conference & Trade Show will take place August 28-30 in Kansas City Missouri. The Latin American and Caribbean Aquaculture 2018 (LACQUA18) event will be held together with the VIII Colombian Aquaculture Congress (VIII CCA) at the Ágora Convention Center, Bogotá, from October 23 to 26, 2018. The conference will include presentations of research results (oral and poster), sessions for producers, mini-courses and a trade show, which will consist of an exhibition area of 72 stands for national and international providers that will present the latest advances in equipment, supplies and services.

VICTAM International 2019, the world\'s leading showcase for the feed industry, will be held from June 12 – 14, 2019 in Cologne, Germany and the organizers say more than 50% of the exhibition space is already sold. The 12th Aquafeed Horizons conference will once again be held along side VICTAM International on the first day of the event.

Australian company FoodStream will present the Aquafeed Extrusion program for the first time in Chile from October 22 to 24 at the Catholic University of Temuco. This 3-day course, which has been run annually in Norway since 2015, covers the principles of extrusion, the design of extrusion processes, and the formulation of extruded aquafeeds. Principles learned will be demonstrated using the extruder in the University of Temuco pilot plant.

At the recent 33rd session of the FAO Committee on Fisheries (COFI 33), IFFO hosted a side event titled ‘a sustainable future for aquaculture' to provide a comprehensive overview of issues related to aquatic feeds and sustainable aquaculture. IFFO’s Technical Director, Dr. Neil Auchterlonie, represented the marine ingredients industry and discussed the key role of fishmeal and fish oil as feed ingredients. "Marine ingredients, most notably fishmeal and fish oil, are the foundation of feed for the aquaculture industry and remain a strategic ingredient given the highly nutritious qualities. At IFFO, we are working hard to encourage responsible sourcing and finding the most effective way to use these valuable ingredients.”

Next year’s Asian Pacific Aquaculture (APA19) conference will take place June 19-21 at the Chennai Trade Center in Tamil Nadu, India. Sessions and workshops at APA19 will cover all aspects of aquaculture in India as well as Southeast Asia. Topics will include animal health and welfare, feeding and nutrition, biofloc, fishmeal and fish oil, prebiotics, probiotics, aquaponics and much more. Conference organizers have released a call for papers, and encourage the submission of oral and poster presentations.

This year’s IFFO Annual Conference will be held in Rome from October 15-17. IFFO’s President Eduardo Goycoolea will lead and moderate a panel of industry leaders to discuss the perception and future development of the marine ingredients industry. “This panel will give us an opportunity to ask the tough questions that our industry needs to confront to ensure continued prosperity and stability. We will discuss and challenge the many myths linked to the fishmeal and fish oil industry."

The 6th Global Feed & Food Congress (GFFC) will be held in Bangkok March 11-13, 2019. The event will bring together leaders from the global feed and food chain to discuss ‘The future of Feed & Food – are we ready?”

Organizers of VICTAM International 2019 have announced that nearly half of the floor space has been reserved for the exhibition, scheduled to take place from June 12 -14 2019 at the KoelnMesse in Cologne, Germany. They are offering an early bird discount for remaining floor space.

The American Feed Industry Association has opened registration for its online feed manufacturing course, conducted in partnership with Kansas State University, Aug. 27-Sept. 28. The five-week, \"AFIA 500: Fundamentals of Feed Manufacturing\" distance education program provides an in-depth understanding of the feed manufacturing process, while allowing participants to work at their own pace and engage in online discussions with other students and university instructors.

The Aquaponics Association will host its annual International Aquaponics Conference in Connecticut from September 21-23, 2018. The theme for this year's conference is 'Putting Up Shoots,' and a call for presentations is now open. The purpose of the three-day conference is to advance the practice of aquaponics by connecting growers, researchers and enthusiasts from around the world. The Conference will consist of four learning tracks: Commercial Aquaponics, Community Aquaponics, Aquaponics Research & Food Safety, and Aquaponics in STEM Education. 

Organizers of the Omega-3 Summit 2018, scheduled to be held in Belgium on October 29-30, are calling for poster presentations. The major objective of the Summit is disseminating knowledge and understanding of LC Omega-3s and their effect on nutrition and health, and how to bring these to the market.

The NAA has released a call for presentations for the next Algae Production Workshop, to be held this fall in Woodlands, Texas. Specifically, the NAA is seeking presentations covering the topics of 'Commercial Production,' 'New Algae Markets,'  'Supply Channels' and 'Pricing Strategies.' 

Victam International B.V. has announced that Mr. Henk van de Bunt has returned to the position of managing director while the company searches for a new permanent director. Mr. van de Bunt has taken over the duties of Mr. Erik Heemskerk, former managing director, who together with Victam jointly decided to terminate their cooperation. 

The 8th Offshore Mariculture Conference was held in association with the U.S. Soybean Export Council, USSEC, in Singapore, from May 15 - 17. The conference consisted of two days of technical presentations and panel discussions from high level experienced operators in the sector. Attendees who were unable to see the complete range of presentations and papers produced by event speakers are invited to download the conference proceedings for free from the conference website.

A one-week Practical Short Course on Aquaculture Feed Extrusion, Nutrition and Feed Management will be presented on Aug. 26-31, 2018 at Texas A&M University. The program will cover information on designing new feed mills and selecting conveying, drying, grinding, conditioning and feed mixing equipment.

The National Algae Association is holding its next Algae Production Workshop in the fall of 2018 in Woodlands, Texas. The workshop will be focused on commercial algae producers opening new markets, supply channels and pricing strategies for the production of Omega 3 EPA/DHA - astaxanthin, animal feed, and more.
