VIV China moves to Nanjing in 2018

VIV worldwide has announced that VIV China 2018 will move to Nanjing, the capital city of China\'s Jiangsu province. The conference is scheduled for September 17th-19th, 2018 and the venue in Nanjing is the NIEC exhibition centre. A new concept for VIV China will be developed, with more activities and with a clearer focus on the different target groups per day. “We have decided that it is time for something new, an exploration of the fresh opportunities and activities offered by a change of location. The move will allow our exhibitors to extend their sales networks and contacts to other parts of China.\"
27th annual practical short course on Feeds and Pet Food Extrusion

A one week Practical Short Course on Feeds & Pet Food Extrusion will be presented Jan. 29 - Feb. 3, 2017 at Texas A&M University by staff, industry representatives, and consultants. The program will cover information on designing new feed mills and selecting conveying, drying, grinding, conditioning and feed mixing equipment.
Aquafeed Horizons Opens Call for Papers - Deadline December 1, 2016

The 10th in the series of international conferences for the commercial aquafeed industry will focus on advances in processing and formulation, that offer practical solutions to aquafeed companies in terms of product development, production efficiency, quality improvements and profitability. Papers are now invited from qualified presenters.
GOAL 2017 pre-registration opens

Pre-registration for GAA\'s GOAL 2017 conference, to be held at historic Croke Park in Dublin, Ireland from October 3 to 6, 2017, is open. Pre-registrants qualify for a special rate and will be first to be notified when registration opens in early 2017.
USSEC Southeast Asia conducts Broodstock Nutrition Seminar in Thailand

USSEC’s aquaculture program recently welcomed an experienced marine fish broodstock expert, Dr. Robert Vassallo Agius, to Thailand to speak primarily to the Asian sea bass hatchery industry. The target of the presentation was to highlight the importance of formulated broodstock feeds as both a biosecurity measure and for better production.
Aquaculture Europe 2016 conference highlights

Aquaculture Europe 2016, held in Edinburgh during the 40th anniversary of the European Aquaculture Society, was the most successful Aquaculture Europe event to date, with a total of 1,700 participants from 65 countries. This year\'s conference, held at the Edinburgh International Conference Center, surpassed previous AE event participation in 2014 San Sebastian (1,450), 2015 Rotterdam (1,087) and 2011 Rhodes (1,029). The theme of the event was “Food for Thought” and this was addressed by three plenary sessions that paved the way for the 32 parallel sessions of oral and poster presentations derived from a record submission of 714 abstracts.
USSEC holds second regional aquaculture investment conference Jordan

USSEC held its second regional aquaculture investment conference in Dead Sea, Jordan from September 23 – 26. More than 70 aquaculture professionals attended the conference from 7 different countries, including Turkey, Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan. Participants represented major aquaculture producers and aquaculture feed millers. “As an industry member of USSEC, Insta-Pro appreciates USSEC’s continuing commitment to grow the aquaculture market in the MENA region and is grateful for the opportunity to participate in this highly effective event. Registration open for Offshore Mariculture Conference 2017 in Mexico

The Offshore Mariculture Conference 2017 will take place March 6th-10th next year at the Hotel Coral and Marina in Ensenada, Mexico. The conference will help to identify and define the opportunities available to businesses in the aquaculture industry and will focus on the production of Abalone, Seaweed, Bivalves (such as Mussels) and the offshore farming of marine fin fish. It will also provide information about innovative feed solutions and alternatives, opportunities for financing mariculture projects, the logistics of setting up offshore and how to meet increasing demands for sustainability in today’s society.

The 2017 PISC, coined, \"Where Business Gets Done!\" will take place in Orlando, Florida, March 7-9, of next year.
Call to submit papers for APA 2017

Asian Pacific Aquaculture 2017 will be held from July 24-27, 2016 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The three-day conference program will have special sessions on marine shrimp, freshwater fish culture, production systems, tilapia, marine finfish, mollusk culture, risk management, aquafeeds and nutrition, development and planning, marketing and trade and more. Online abstract submission is encouraged and the deadline is January 5, 2017.
WAS announces Juan Pablo Lazo will be a Plenary Speaker at LACQUA 16

The World Aquaculture Society (WAS) has announced that Dr. Juan Pablo Lazo, current president of the World Aquaculture Society and former president of the Latin American & Caribbean Chapter, will be a plenary speaker at LACQUA 16. The focus during his presentation will be on the current status and future outlook on Global Aquaculture, with a special emphasis on sustainability and the potential that Peru offers for the aquaculture industry.
Seagriculture, the international conference on macroalgae, takes place next week

The fifth edition of the international conference on seaweed ‘Seagriculture’ takes place in Aveiro, Portugal on September 27-28. Dr. Florian Nagel of Aller Aqua will speak at the World Conference of Aquaculture and Fisheries, taking place in Qinqdao, China from November 4-6, 2016. Dr. Nagel will represent Aller Aqua Research and Aller Aqua Qingdao during the session “Feed Ingredients, Additives, Aquafeeds.” He will present Aller Aqua’s VITAMAX concept, and further inform about Aller Aqua Qingdao and its expected contribution to Chinese aquaculture.

The deadline to submit abstracts to LACQUA16, the annual meeting of the Latin American & Caribbean Chapter of the World Aquaculture Society, has been extended to October 1. Abstracts can be submitted in Spanish, Portuguese and English. Presentations can be in Spanish, Portuguese and English.

Aquaculture first at EAAP conference

The Agri-Food and Biosciences Institute (AFBI) sponsored the first aquaculture session to ever appear in the program of the European Federation of Animal Science (EAAP) conference. The 4-day conference took place in Belfast at the end of August, had over 1500 delegates, and brought nearly £3M to the local economy. We can hopefully build on this successful session to bigger things in the following years to meet the challenges to European Aquaculture.”
