The World Aquaculture Society (WAS) has announced that Dr. Juan Pablo Lazo, current president of the World Aquaculture Society and former president of the Latin American & Caribbean Chapter, will be a plenary speaker at LACQUA 16. The focus during his presentation will be on the current status and future outlook on Global Aquaculture, with a special emphasis on sustainability and the potential that Peru offers for the aquaculture industry.

The fifth edition of the international conference on seaweed ‘Seagriculture’ takes place in Aveiro, Portugal on September 27-28. The conference will feature 19 speakers, 8 trade show participants, over 50 participating institutions and 11 poster presentations. From seaweed biology and strain selection, to bioplastics made from seaweed, Seagriculture 2016 covers the complete value chain of seaweed.

Dr. Florian Nagel of Aller Aqua will speak at the World Conference of Aquaculture and Fisheries, taking place in Qinqdao, China from November 4-6, 2016. Dr. Nagel will represent Aller Aqua Research and Aller Aqua Qingdao during the session “Feed Ingredients, Additives, Aquafeeds.” He will present Aller Aqua’s VITAMAX concept, and further inform about Aller Aqua Qingdao and its expected contribution to Chinese aquaculture.

The deadline to submit abstracts to LACQUA16, the annual meeting of the Latin American & Caribbean Chapter of the World Aquaculture Society, has been extended to October 1. Abstracts can be submitted in Spanish, Portuguese and English. Presentations can be in Spanish, Portuguese and English.

The annual International Aquaculture Conference and Exhibition of the World Aquaculture Society will be held in Cape Town, South Africa from June 26-30, 2017. The theme for the conference is \"Sustainable Aquaculture New Frontiers for Economic Growth Spotlight on Africa.\" World Aquaculture 2017 encourages the submission of high quality oral and poster presentations, and strongly encourages authors to consider poster presentations.

The Agri-Food and Biosciences Institute (AFBI) sponsored the first aquaculture session to ever appear in the program of the European Federation of Animal Science (EAAP) conference. The 4-day conference took place in Belfast at the end of August, had over 1500 delegates, and brought nearly £3M to the local economy. We can hopefully build on this successful session to bigger things in the following years to meet the challenges to European Aquaculture.”

Registration is open for the 17th Aquaculture Feed Technology short course \"Trends and Markets in Aquaculture Feed Ingredients, Nutrition, Formulation and Optimized Feed Production and Quality Management.\" The course will take place in Guayaquil, Ecuador on October 24 & 25.

Asian-Pacific Aquaculture 2017 will take place in Kuala Lumpur July 24-27, 2017. APA 2017 will have a large exhibition featuring international companies showcasing the latest in products, services and all aquaculture related information, as well as special sessions to address the everyday practical concerns and needs of aquaculture farmers.

In order to continue its mission in educating the feed industry on the implementation requirements of the Food Safety Modernization Act, the American Feed Industry Association along with Feedstuffs, will host a series of four, free webinars that focus on the rule spanning from late August through September.

USSEC conducted an aquaculture seminar in the Philippines on June 11. The goal of this seminar was to ensure continuous, and even increasing, demand in U.S. Soy products in aquafeed manufacturing. 34 participants, including technicians, feed managers, office staff and warehouse staff attended the seminar.

The next European Percid Fish Culture (EPFC) workshop will be held on Tuesday, 20th September at the International Conference Centre, Edinburgh, Scotland, just prior to Aquaculture Europe 2016. The workshop is entitled \"Best Practice in Percid Fish Aquaculture.\"

Over 340 participants from 35 countries were in attendance and saw 180 scientific presentations at the five-day symposium in Sun Valley, Idaho. This year’s symposium was sponsored by several aquatic feed organizations and was structured around the theme ‘how to feed the fish that will feed the world.’

Organizers of the “larvi’17” conference are inviting the academic as well as the private sector to attend the 7th Fish and Shellfish Larviculture Symposium September 4 - 7, 2017 at Ghent University in Belgium. Interested contributors to the symposium program are hereby invited to submit indicative titles and a 10-line summary of the contribution (paper or poster) they would like to present to the Symposium Secretariat before November 7, 2016.

The International Symposium on Fish Nutrition and Feeding (ISFNF) is a biannual international forum for researchers, academics and industry concerned with the nutrition and feeding of aquatic animals. The 17th edition of ISFNF was held June 5-10 in Idaho, USA. The conference, sponsored by Nutriad, attracted around 400 fish nutritionists from around the globe.
