The European Aquaculture Society has announced that this year’s 
EPFC Workshop will take place on October 17 in Dubrovnik, Croatia. 
The 2017 edition of the annual EPFC workshop will be held in close conjunction with EAS annual Aquaculture Europe conference. The workshop title is: \"New skillsets in Percid Fish Culture\" and will pertain to the latest achievements in skills and competencies required for successful percid fish culture.

Bühler Aeroglide has announced its 2017 drying seminar series, where each participant learns the principles and techniques for optimal drying, regardless of their make or model. 'Drying Theory Put to Practice' explores drying basics including parameters, balancing, evaluating, mechanical inspections and troubleshooting with a dryer simulation. It also teaches advanced drying concepts and measurement practices in a hands-on lab session combined with advance calculation methods used for dryer sizing.

De Heus LLC Vietnam will gather key researchers and industry stakeholders from the Aquaculture and feed sector for an international workshop on 3rd May 2017. The next day, De Heus will officially open its state-of-the-art Aquaculture R&D Facility in Vinh Long. The interdisciplinary workshop is part of the PAP “Powering Aquaculture Progress” project initiated by De Heus, with Fresh Studio, Wageningen University and Can Tho University as project partners. The workshop aims to share knowledge on all aspects of Aquaculture, feed and Nutrition.

At the recent VIV Asia in Bangkok, Nutriad presented solutions for reduction of antibiotics usage in livestock production. This year’s VIV saw a record attendance and served as an excellent platform for sharing insights on how feed additives can help the reduction of non-therapeutic use of antibiotics. Nutriad attended industry experts from across the world at its booth and participated in several conferences and seminars during the week.

The Aquaculture Roundtable Series (TARS) 2017 will address Finfish Aquaculture: Strategies for Growth. This is the second time this series of roundtables, initiated in 2011, is focusing on the finfish aquaculture industry. The meeting, taking place in Bali, Indonesia from August 16-17 will explore the growth potential of Asia’s finfish aquaculture industry, with a view towards developing a strategic approach towards market-driven production.

The Center for Aquaculture Technologies Canada (CATC) has announced the 36th Fish Feed and Nutrition Workshop will take place in Prince Edward Island (Canada) September 12-14, 2017. This workshop is the North American version of the International Symposium on Fish Nutrition and Feeding. The workshop is industry-focused and will cover timely topics related to novel feed ingredients, food safety and regulation, market trends as well as feed processing.

The 7th Offshore Mariculture Conference 2017 took place in Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico from March 6-10. The key takeaways from the conference were: the future lies in offshore; food production to meet the global demand; accessibility on any scale; minimal environmental impact; and sustainability.

The 38th Meeting of the Aquaculture board of the German Agricultural Society was held on March 1-2 in Niewitz and Golßen, Germany. The annual conference, dedicated to the topic “Fish health - Protection and sustainable management of fish stocks”, was hosted by Emsland - Aller Aqua GmbH.

USSEC – Southeast Asia (SEA) held its 2017 USSEC Aquaculture Feed Nutrition Workshop in Davao City, Mindanao, Philippines on February 20. Presentations discussed how to utilize U.S. Soy products to reduce the amount of fishmeal and fish oil in aquaculture feeds, information on milkfish nutrition, and how to maximize the value of feed ingredients in a high priced environment.

The 23rd Annual U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Aquatic Drug Approval Coordination Workshop will be held in Bozeman, MT from July 31 - August 4.

Aquaculture Vietnam 2017 Expo & Forum will be held on October 25-27 at the Can Tho International Exhibition Fair Center (EFC) in Can Tho City, Vietnam. The expo will present the latest innovations in aquaculture, fisheries and seafood, for the whole value chain, from production to processing and packaging to plate.

Aller Aqua Research Manager Dr. Florian Nagel recently gave a presentation at the 5th Swiss Fish Forum, held at the IUNR (Institute for Ecology and Natural Resources) in Lindau, Switzerland. The topic for the presentation was the challenges facing R&D when developing and delivering optimal fish feed to diverse markets. In the presentation, Dr. Nagel further outlined the fast growth Aller Aqua is experiencing, and pinpointing the company’s key markets in Europe, Asia and Africa.

USSEC recently hosted a seminar in Egypt to introduce the principles of quality analysis in soybeans to the country’s aquafeed industry. A total of 60 participants attended the event, representing the top aquaculture feed mill and aqua producers. It is a delight to come back to Egypt and see the progress being made in aqua production and the feed industry in general. Many challenges remain but there is a clear and discernible progress in the understanding of the key areas that contribute to efficient aqua and livestock production."
