European Percid Fish Culture (EPFC) workshops

The European Aquaculture Society announced two upcoming special workshops related to the EAS thematic group European Percid Fish Culture (EPFC). The workshop \"Reproduction of European Pikeperch,\" taking place September 11-15 in Belgium, will provide hands-on practical training on all relevant aspects in relation to the reproduction of European pikeperch (Sander lucioperca). The EPFC Workshop 2017 will take place on October 17 during the Aquaculture Europe conference in Dubrovnik. The workshop, titled \"New skillsets in Percid Fish Culture,\" will pertain to the latest achievements in skills and competencies required for successful percid fish culture.
Seminar on validation, verification and transfer of analytical methods

Method validation has recently been in the spotlight of regulatory agencies and industry task forces, with new guidelines and regulations from the FDA, EMA, and USP. The two-day workshop \"Validation, Verification and Transfer of Analytical Methods (Understanding and implementing guidelines from FDA/EMA, USP and ICH)\" will give attendees the background to understand the requirements pertaining to method validation, and will focus on strategies and provide tools to implement most critical requirements.

African aquaculture signaled its coming-of-age at World Aquaculture 2017. The conference theme, “Sustainable Aquaculture – New Frontiers for Economic Growth – Spotlight on Africa” highlighted the potential of aquaculture production to support economic development and investment opportunities in Africa. A highlight of the event was the consensus achieved to launch an African Chapter of the World Aquaculture Society.

Offshore Mariculture Conference produces positive results

Several speakers and sponsors from this year’s Offshore Mariculture Conference, which took place from March 6-10, recently shared updates on their experiences after the conference. BioMar, gold sponsor of Offshore Mariculture 2017, felt that “the people attending the event were all very relevant to the industry and seemed very serious in doing business, therefore the communication was very targeted and the networking had positive results.” Since the event, Italian based company Refamed, who focus on design and development for offshore cage culture projects have unveiled a new sea-worthy, robust, unsinkable polyethylene feedboat, ideal for use at offshore fish farms.

Organizers are encouraging in particular stakeholders from the industry to submit abstracts on recent developments.
