WAS-APC has announced the Awards for this year’s Asia Pacific Aquaculture conference. The student award structure has partly been brought into line with the WAS globally to ensure consistency. Additionally, WAS-APC will continue financing and awarding exceptional women within the field of aquaculture.

The Offshore Mariculture Conference Mexico 2017 will take place in Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico from March 6-10. The technical program of the conference is designed for all those involved in fish farming and the supply chain, and presents a prime opportunity to capitalize on the growth phase of offshore fish farming in the central America region.

The Hawaii Aquaculture and Aquaponics Association (HAAA) 2017 Conference will be held at Ka‘ikena Restaurant on the Kapiolani Community College campus on February 24th, 2017 from 7:45 AM to 5:15 PM, and followed by a reception at the same venue. Ticket prices for the conference and the following reception will increase after February 17.

The International CeBiTec Research Conference on Advances in Industrial Biotechnology: Prospects and challenges for the development of algal biotechnology, will take place at Bielefeld University in Germany from September 24 – 27, 2017. The focus of the conference will be fundamental and applied research topics in the field of algal biology and biotechnology.

The Global Aquaculture Alliance (GAA) is heightening its presence at Seafood Expo North America (SENA) this year with a larger exhibit. SENA is North America’s largest seafood trade show. This year’s event takes place at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center (BCEC) in Boston, Massachusetts, USA, from March 19 to 21. Among the events taking place are the GAA Membership Meeting and Board of Directors Meeting on March 18, BAP Dialogue Meeting on March 19, and the premiere of GAA Films on March 19.

Asian-Pacific Aquaculture 2017 has announced the plenary speaker for this year’s conference. The session will start with the address by Mr. Herve Lucien-Brun, Aquaculture & Qualite, France. He will present on “Marketing farmed seafood from Asia to global markets”, which is linked to the theme of APA 17, ‘Transforming for market needs’. Conference organizers have also announced that the deadline for abstract submission has been extended to March 1, 2017.

The European Aquaculture Society has begun preparations for Aquaculture Europe 2017, which will take place in Dubrovnik, Croatia from October 17 to 20. The theme of this year’s event is “Co-operation for Growth.” AE2017 has identified a lack of cooperation between operators in the sector as a factor that may contribute to the limited of growth in aquaculture, and will host a range of thematic sessions to address the issue. Abstracts should be submitted before May 1st to have a ‘first review’ chance by the session moderators for acceptance.

Biomin, together with Romer Labs, is hosting a webinar to discuss mycotoxin monitoring, as well as the results of the recent Biomin Mycotoxin Survey.  The organizers are holding two sessions on Wednesday, February 8. The first will be at 8am CET, and the second will be at 4pm CET. Each session will last one hour, and will cover how to implement rapid on-site mycotoxin monitoring, overcoming some common on-site testing challenges, current mycotoxin threats worldwide, and dangers posed by the presence of multiple mycotoxins.

The Process Engineering R&D Center at Texas A&M University is offering a short course titled \"Membrane & Other Separation Technologies Short Course.\" The theme of this course is “Applications in food, dairy, beverages, and bioprocessing.\" It will be held from May 14-18, 2017.

The Aquaculture America 2017 theme “Forging New Frontiers” celebrates U.S. aquaculture’s enduring pioneer spirit. This year, plenary speakers will provide hints to the future of aquaculture from the perspective of the millennial generation, and will discuss funding partnerships and understanding how our industry is communicating to others about aquaculture.

The next BAP Auditor and Industry Observer Training Course will be held in Shanghai, China, from April 2 to 8, 2017. The course will cover all of the BAP standards, including the seafood processing plant standards, finfish and crustacean farm standards (includes land-based aquaculture systems such as ponds and fresh/brackish water cage farms and marine cage farms), mollusk farm standards, feed mill standards, and finfish, crustacean and mollusk hatchery/nursery standards.

Conference organizers are calling for interested parties to submit abstracts for inclusion in the LACQUA17 program. In addition to learning from the presentations of the latest developments in various species and areas of aquaculture, this year the conference will feature spaces dedicated to investors and the industrial sector, in addition to an exhibition area that will feature the participation of more than 70 top industry companies.

ACI will hold the 7th European Algae Industry Summit Conference (formerly \"European Algae Biomass\") on April 26th and 27th, 2017 in Nice, France. The event will bring together senior executives from industry and academia to discuss the latest commercial and technical developments, challenges and research breakthroughs throughout the entire algae value chain.

The third annual “Aquafeed Extrusion Technology” short course is being offered at the Center for Feed Technology (FôrTek) in Norway from 24 to 26 April. The 3-day program covers the principles of extrusion, the design of extrusion processes, and the formulation requirements for extrusion.

The steering committee for World Aquaculture 2017 recently announced the keynote speakers for the upcoming meeting in Cape Town, South Africa on June 26 - 30 2017. The speakers are Dr. Slonas Chimatiro, Tom Hecht, Gorjan Nikolik, and Rohana Subasinghe.

Aquaculture will be on the center stage at the next edition of the international Feed to Food exhibition VIV Asia, taking place in Bangkok, Thailand on March 15-17. The special event called ‘Aquatic’ features a pre-show conference, several show-time seminars and a pavilion of exhibitors at VIV Asia whose primary purpose is to reach out with products or services for the aquaculture sector. “At the 2017 edition we are responding to our surveys and feedback showing that aquaculture is highly relevant to VIV Asia’s audience. In 2015 we received about 38,500 visitors and over 19% of them reported an interest in the production of fish or shrimp.”

AFIA’s 2017 Purchasing & Ingredient Suppliers Conference will take place March 7-9, 2017 at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress hotel in Orlando, Florida. More than 550 buyers and sellers of feed and pet food ingredients are expected to gather at the three-day annual event. Register before Jan. 17, 2017, to receive the early-bird rate.

The 8th Expo Pesca and AcuiPerú, a growing international fisheries and aquaculture tradeshow, will take place on November 08 - 10, 2017 in Lima, Peru. This specialized event is the largest in its sector in Latin America and has been held in Peru every two years since 2003 to promote and support the sale of equipment, supplies and services for fisheries and aquaculture.

The GIANT PRAWN 2017 International Conference and Exhibition will be held at the Asian Institute in Technology in Thailand from March 20 - 24, 2017. The deadline for early bird registration and online abstract submission is December 31, 2016.
