The website for the 36th Fish Feed and Nutrition Workshop is now live. The workshop, set to take place on Prince Edward Island, will provide an opportunity to interact with aquaculture North American nutrition stakeholders from the industry and academia.

On June 13 - 14 the first FVG Select event will take place in Cologne. FVG Select will focus on a series of six different conferences, which have been organized by specialist industry related organizations, and on business matchmaking. The conference program includes the Aquafeed Horizons Conference on June 14.

The Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) has announced the launch of a Certificate program on Sustainable Asian Aquaculture, taking place at the AARM Academic program beginning in August 2017. This Certificate program is one semester, and is the combination of well-designed course work and hands-on experiences in specialized areas (fish/shrimp hatchery or farming). The program is useful for both students (with credit transfer) and for working professionals and entrepreneurs (without credits).

A one-week Practical Short Course on Aquaculture Feed Extrusion, Nutrition and Feed Management will be presented on Aug. 20-25, 2017 at Texas A&M University by staff, industry representative and consultants. The program will cover information on designing new feed mills and selecting conveying, drying, grinding, conditioning and feed mixing equipment.

The U.S. Soybean Export Council (USSEC) conducted workshops across Southeast Asia in early May in an effort to increase the production of sustainable marine fish aquaculture species in the region. The workshop series was titled “Development of a Sustainable, High-­Volume, Export-focused Marine Fish Aquaculture Sector in Southeast Asia” and brought together representatives from government, industry associations, international buyers, certification programs, and exporters to discuss and outline what the Southeast Asian marine fish aquaculture industry should do to target the international export market.

APA17 organizers Asian-Pacific Chapter World Aquaculture Society and Malaysia Fisheries Society have announced that the event\'s second plenary speaker will be Dr. Mazuki Bin Hashim, Senior Director of Fisheries Biosecurity Division for the Department of Fisheries Malaysia. He will be presenting about the topic “What can Malaysia offer to expand aquaculture?” which is directly linked to the theme of APA 17, Transforming for Market Needs. Organizers previously confirmed that Mr. Herve Lucien-Brun from Aquaculture & Qualite in France will be the first plenary speaker at this year\'s event.

USSEC – Southeast Asia recently conducted in-house seminars and visits to several aquaculture feedmills in the Philippines to address different issues in their feedmill productions and aquaculture feed formulations. Topics of discussion included extrusion principles and equipment in aquaculture feed production; feeds and feeding management; and milkfish and tilapia nutrition, including the use of U.S. Soy products to reduce the amount of fishmeal and fish oil in aquaculture feeds.

“The Advanced Research Developments on Shrimp Culture” seminar will take place during Asian Pacific Aquaculture (APA) 2017. Five experts from Asia Pacific will share their years of work experience and present their advanced research developments on Shrimp Nutrition, Farming Management, Disease Prevention and Treatment.

The first ever International Cleaner Fish Summit is taking place this week at the Technology & Innovation Centre in Glasgow, Scotland. The event brings together practitioners from the Faroes, Iceland, Ireland, Norway and Scotland to discuss the key issues of cleaner fish; improve understanding; and, in turn, ensure the most efficient use of this biological control against sea lice. Presentations include \"Feeding: feed producer perspective\" by Dan Leeming of BioMar and \"Feeding: industry perspective\" by Mads Lenes of Marine Harvest Norway.

Aquaculture America returns to Las Vegas in 2018, and is calling for papers. The organizing committee encourages the submission of high quality oral and poster presentations, and strongly encourages authors to consider poster presentations because poster sessions will be an integral part of the program.

The Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO) announced additional speakers for the 2017 BIO World Congress on Industrial Biotechnology. The education program features seven diverse education tracks with speakers from around the world over three days of the conference. The aquaculture session \"Harnessing Industrial Biotechnology to Meet Aquaculture Feed Needs\" will take place Wed. July 26.
