2015 Schedule of Feed Industry HACCP Courses Announced

The American Feed Industry Association in partnership with the IGP Institute of the Department of Grain Science and Industry at Kansas State University will jointly host \"Establishing a HACCP Program for the Feed Industry\" on June 8-11, and August 31-September 3, in Manhattan, Kansas, USA. The short course will concentrate on the development of a Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points plan for all industry sectors.

The American Feed Industry Association and Eurofins have announced plans to jointly host two back-to-back animal feed programs this spring. The \"Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points Training for the Animal Food Industry\" will take place in Des Moines, Iowa, April 21-22, and the \"FAMI-QS Awareness in Feed Safety Program: Solutions for the Specialty Feed and Mixture Industry\" will follow in Des Moines, April 23-24.

Advanced Research Initiatives for Nutrition & Aquaculture (ARRAINA): fine tuning the delivery of nutrients and minimizing wastes

Dr. Jorge Dias will present major activities underway and available results from the ARRAINA project at Aquafeed Horizons in June.Dr. Dias will focus on new knowledge generated on the fine tuning of the dietary supply of trace elements in larvae and juvenile feeds, relying on the use of innovative delivery vectors such as microencapsulated and nano-sized mineral forms and a closer look on the interactions among trace elements and other nutrients. Activities on the effect of vegetable ingredients on physical pellet criteria and fecal properties will also be discussed. A predictive tool to compare the environmental impact (total, N and P waste) of different feed formulations developed for gilthead seabream will also be presented.

Specialized Extrusion Short Course to be held in Norway

Australian company FoodStream, working with extrusion expert Dennis Forte, has been presenting extrusion and related training programs in Australia and the surrounding region, including Thailand, for almost 20 years. FoodStream has now teamed up with the Centre for Feed Technology (FôrTek), in Norway, to present a short course specifically directed at Aquafeed Extrusion Technology at FôrTek from March 25 to 27 2015.
