The American Feed Industry Association will host a Safe Feed/Safe Food webinar April 7, at 2 p.m. EST, to discuss its recent certification program updates. The webinar - coordinated by the Safe Quality Food Institute - will address the major changes to the FSC36 Safe Feed/Safe Food guidance document, how the changes will impact facilities and the purpose behind the newly revised guidance document.

USAID and Kasersart University will be hosting a regional workshop March 9, 2015 in Bangkok,Thailand, as part of a series of training-of-trainers, on Promotion of Improved On-Farm Shrimp Feed Management Practices. The workshop will present the main findings and results of the training-of trainers and provide shrimp feed manufacturers within the region with recent advances in feed ingredient use, feed manufacturing technology and use of feed additives.

The workshop will be devoted to a series of lectures and discussions that will be delivered primarily by Dr. Albert GJ Tacon and invited speakers. It will focus on practical aspects of on-farm shrimp feed management, and in particular on how existing on-farm feed management practices within the target countries of the project can be further improved so as to reduce shrimp production costs to the shrimp farmers as well as future directions of shrimp nutrition & feed development in the Philippines.

The \"Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points Training for the Animal Food Industry\" will take place in Des Moines, Iowa, April 21-22, and the \"FAMI-QS Awareness in Feed Safety Program: Solutions for the Specialty Feed and Mixture Industry\" will follow in Des Moines, April 23-24.

“Towards Sustainable Aquaculture in the Middle East” will be the theme of this first edition, which will focus on vital industry issues affecting the key Middle Eastern aquaculture producing countries. Dr. Jorge Dias will present major activities underway and available results from the ARRAINA project at Aquafeed Horizons in June.Dr. Dias will focus on new knowledge generated on the fine tuning of the dietary supply of trace elements in larvae and juvenile feeds, relying on the use of innovative delivery vectors such as microencapsulated and nano-sized mineral forms and a closer look on the interactions among trace elements and other nutrients. Activities on the effect of vegetable ingredients on physical pellet criteria and fecal properties will also be discussed. A predictive tool to compare the environmental impact (total, N and P waste) of different feed formulations developed for gilthead seabream will also be presented.

This year’s Aquaculture Europe conference will be held in Rotterdam in the Netherlands from October 20 t0 23 and focus particularly on the vital links between aquaculture, nature and society, the European Aquaculture Society (EAS) announced this week.
