AFIA along with the department of grain science and industry at Kansas State University has again partnered to offer another distance learning education program for 2012. AFIA 501-Fundamentals of Feed Manufacturing was developed by the feed technology group in K-State’s department of grain science and industry. The program will provide participants with an in-depth understanding of feed manufacturing. The five-week course, offered completely online from March 12 - April 13, 2012 is limited to 50 participants. There are still a few spaces available, please register right away. Registration will close Thursday, March 8

Organizers said the abstract submission for AQUA 2012 has been very good and the Program committee is beginning the work of developing sessions. If you haven't done so yet, you can still submit your abstract. Please submit online as soon as possible but at least by April 2nd. This will give time to consider your abstract for your preferred presentation method.

The 10th International Asian Fisheries and Aquaculture Forum (10AFAF) jointly organized by the Asian Fisheries Society (AFS) and The Korean Society of Fisheries and Aquatic Science (KOSFAS) will bring together distinguished scientists from all over the world to discuss issues pertaining to sustainable fisheries and aquaculture, including among other topics, fish habitats and ecosystems (marine and freshwater), and the effective utilization of fish, shellfish and algae resources in the Asian-Pacific region. The forum will focus on the theme is Blue Waters and Green Fisheries

This biannual event will feature technology successes and new developments on P. monodon and P. vannamei culture from around the region. The congress will also highlight marketing and value adding opportunities. Additional topics of interest for this year’s congress as requested by Philshrimp members are crop insurance and financing

Mr. Theera Wongsamut, Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives will officially open the three exhibitions in BITEC (Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Centre) on February 15. These specialist trade shows, open from the 15th – 17th February, will attract senior industry executives from the animal feed, aquafeed, petfood, biomass pelleting, grain processing and rice and flour milling industry sectors from throughout South and South East Asia.
