Singapore-based fish vaccine developer TeOra and carbon capture firm, Susteon Inc., claimed The Liveability Challenge 2023 top prizes of USD 1.87 million in funding.
The competition, presented by Temasek Foundation and organized by Eco-Business, focused on two key themes this year – climate change and food and nutrition, with the climate track split between ocean conservation and restoration and decarbonization. It features ocean ecosystem solutions as a focus area for the first time.
TeOra, together with Seaforestation and Susteon, were also awarded USD 75,000 in funding from impact investment firm PlanetRise, family office Rumah Group and venture capital funds Quest Ventures and TRIREC.
TeOra developed an orally-delivered solution that prevents and treats scale drop disease in barramundi or Asian seabass. Through cutting-edge bioinformatics, precision fermentation-based methods and proprietary biofactories, the company designs and delivers clean, sustainable, and effective solutions that meet the increasing demand for a healthier future.
