DSM-Novozymes alliance unveil new generation phytase
February 7, 2022

HiPhorius™ is a complete phytase solution designed to help poultry, swine and aquaculture producers achieve sustainable and profitable protein production. Its commercial release will improve the market standard for phytase technology and enable access to high potency phytase, giving producers more flexibility in diet optimization.

HiPhorius™ raises the market standard for phytase technology, delivering consistent improvements in animal performance through efficient phosphorous utilization. It is a complete phytase solution and is designed to help farmers achieve sustainable and profitable animal protein production. HiPhorius™ enables producers to expect increased efficiency, improved thermostability and access to digital services, giving producers opportunities to reduce feed costs.

For decades, animal protein producers have relied on phytases as an alternative to inorganic phosphate for both economic and sustainability reasons. The addition of HiPhorius™ directly contributes to a significant decrease in phosphorus emissions from poultry, swine and fish farming. This not only optimizes value for the farmer but also reduces the environmental footprint of animal production. All these aspects are reflected in the HiPhorius™ slogan, “Adding a little, wins a lot”.

Christie Chavis, vice president performance solutions + BIOMIN® at DSM Animal Nutrition and Health, added that “at DSM, we are proud of our alliance with Novozymes in the feed enzyme space. We are convinced that HiPhorius™ will bring significant benefits to our customers whether they are looking to optimize diets or get more efficiency from their current diets. Depending on farm management, objectives and choice of enzymes, our customers typically see a feed cost reduction of 1-4% in broilers, for example. That improvement contributes to farmers’ profitability and improves the sustainability of livestock farming while demonstrating how we fulfill the DSM food system commitments’ aim of double-digit reduction of livestock emissions by 2030.”

Robert Vergo, global feed alliance director at Novozymes, said that “the launch of HiPhorius™ continues the alliance’s momentum of delivering impactful innovation, following the successful launch of our second-generation protease, ProAct 360™, in 2021. Innovation like this is a crucial tool to managing our agricultural practices sustainably. HiPhorius™ fortifies our comprehensive enzyme product range within animal nutrition and health.”
