Kemin Industries has announced the launch of a new Kemin Animal Nutrition and Health division, Aquaculture. Kemin AquaKulture will offer a variety of products and solutions to help customers prevent microbial spoilage, strengthen oxidative control, boost lipid nutrition, promote better health in aqua species by enhancing immunity and ensure water quality to optimize growth. "Over the years, several Kemin Animal Nutrition and Health teams have successfully ventured into the aquaculture market. We\'re excited to now launch a complete AquaKulture division that will provide even greater resources to strengthen the quality of aqua feed and feed ingredients and improve the health and survival of aqua species."
Archer Daniels Midland Company (ADM) announced that it has opened its new enzyme lab in Davis, California. The lab’s scientists will work with ADM’s other R&D facilities around the globe to develop enzyme products to serve a variety of markets, and will partner with China-based Qingdao Vland Biotech Group Co., Ltd., to develop and commercialize feed enzymes to improve animal health and nutrition.“In addition to an accomplished staff of scientists and researchers and a great partner in Vland, our new lab will benefit from its location near the University of California, Davis, which provides access to world-leading expertise and resources in the areas of food science and nutrition as well as animal health and agriculture."

ADM has announced the realignment of its business segments across four units – Carbohydrate Solutions, Nutrition, Oilseeds and Origination. ADM and Cargill have reached an agreement to launch a joint venture to provide soybean meal and oil for customers in Egypt. The joint venture would own and operate the National Vegetable Oil Company soy crush facility in Borg Al-Arab along with related commercial and functional activities, including a separate Switzerland-based merchandising operation that would supply soybeans to the crush plant. Cargill is currently expanding the plant from 3,000 metric tons to 6,000 metric tons of daily crush capacity. “The joint venture brings together Cargill and ADM’s operational and commercial expertise to meet growing local demand for higher-quality feed ingredients."
Leroy-Somer, part of the Nidec group, has announced that its Dyneo® permanent magnet motor can save a fish feed producer at least 135,000 kWh per year. Aller Aqua recently replaced a damaged DC motor on its principal extruder with a Dyneo® permanent magnet motor, providing the company with significant annual savings in energy costs. “Beyond energy performance, Aller Aqua is now able to benefit from significant savings in maintenance costs, allied to increased machine availability. The previous DC motor featured a brush and collector system, which comprised wear parts.”
Nutriad has announced the appointment of Dr. Waldo Nuez Ortin as Lead Scientist of Aquaculture. Dr. Nuez has more than 10 years of academic and industry experience in aquaculture research and project management, including the evaluation and development of novel feed ingredients and additives. “I am excited to join the Nutriad team and hope to contribute to with my academic and practical knowledge of aquaculture research, biotechnological tools and experimental design to support the high need for innovation in aquaculture specialty additives."

Composed of dried fermentation biomass, PROPLEX T provides a consistent source of digestible protein and high levels of essential amino acids for aquaculture diets.
