Berg+Schmidt Reassures Customers in Wake of Dioxin Scandal

Berg+Schmidt has issued a statement emphasizing all of its products to dealers and intermediate agents for feed products or to blending plants and livestock keepers are in perfect condition.

The company said it is among the manufacturers of fats and oils for animal nutrition that supply correctly declared and sampled goods that are demonstrably safe. Managing Director Andreas Reith said he can reassure anxious customers: “We guarantee that each and all of our products lie within the tolerances prescribed by the law on feedstuffs. That applies in particular to dioxin levels.”

Since Berg+Schmidt is part of a group of companies whose members operate chiefly in the food industry, all of its products are subject to a strict system of quality control. At its own production plants Berg+Schmidt uses exclusively oils, fats and fatty acids that are approved by the competent public authorities. Only clean, refined fats suitable for use in foods meet the stringent quality requirements and find their way into the products. It goes without saying that no feed components from the biodiesel sector or from other purely technical industries are used.

An unbroken line of documentation along with monitoring and control of all product-related processes ensures safety during production. By means of product-specific analyses and traceability, the company’s own on-site laboratory facilities and accredited external laboratories guarantee the quality of vegetable raw materials and semi-finished products from the start, back to their place of origin. In addition, the quality system certified according to national and international standards is inspected regularly by independent, external auditors.
