Novus International Presents at the Global Conference on Agriculture 2010

Novus International Inc. participated in the Global Conference on Aquaculture held in Phuket, Thailand, September 22-25.  Dr. Craig Browdy, Senior Manager, Aquaculture Research with Novus International was the Panel Chairman for “Novel and Emerging Technologies: Can they contribute to aquaculture sustainability” during the event.

During the discussion, Dr. Browdy and his fellow panelists discussed the challenges of sustainable aquaculture, the genetic improvement of multiple aquatic species, challenges within the industry and overall nutrition for aquatic species.   One conclusion drawn from the discussion was that advances in genetics, health, and nutrition production systems engineering could have profound effects on aquaculture production.

 “We are learning more everyday about the importance of sustainable aquaculture,” stated Dr. Browdy. “We know that aquaculture is going to play a large role in the future of feeding the world affordable, wholesome food. These discussions are necessary to advance the aquaculture technologies that will move the industry forward.”

The Global Aquaculture Conference on Aquaculture provided a global forum for aquaculture professionals and government representatives to network and learn from one another. Discussions revolved around technology and resources, science, governance, knowledge, manpower and institutional strengthening which can offer solutions to the challenges of the industry.
