An FCRb of 1.04 and a harvest weight of 6.6 kilos in a cycle of 14.4 months are the excellent productive results obtained by Australis’ Melchor 4 Center, in the Aysén region, using EWOS feed from Cargill.

“Obtaining this productive result fills us with pride as a work team and as a company, since it represents the joint work of all areas and especially the Melchor 4 center team. The center stood out for its professionalism, motivation and capacity to obtain excellent results in a complex moment for everyone, such as this 2020, in the middle of a pandemic that affected the whole world. This is a great challenge for our entire company and in particular for the operation of farms,” said Cristián Sauterel, Australis production manager.

Hugo Contreras, general manager of Cargill in Chile, highlighted that “since last year, we have been making profound changes both in our facility and feed. We have advanced systematically and today we have adequate supply, quality and a tremendous team of professionals. We are very happy because all the efforts that we have been making constantly and silently today are bearing fruit and are being seen in the cages and in the process plants of our clients, whom we thank for their trust.”

Contreras highlighted that they are happy with the results, but that these are only one step forward, not the last, since they are seeing performances like this and better for the Atlantic salmon species and also Coho and trout.

Australis said that the work, planning and correct decisions helped them achieve these results. “We believe that our work pillars and an adequate feeding strategy have led us to be consistent with the results in recent years. Without a doubt, the key factor is the effort of each of our work teams, the main value of our company,” added Sauterel.
